General Questions
How can I book an appointment?
The easiest way to book an appointment is through our website. You’ll be able to view our availability and book accordingly. Click here to make an appointment to try on our ready-to-wear bridal dresses
Do you accept walk-ins, or is an appointment required?
It is best to book an appointment in order to secure a fitting room and receive an one-on-one consultation with our bridal consultant. You’re welcome to walk-in but there may be a wait if we already have bookings.
How many months in advance should I book my first appointment?
We advise you to do this between 9 and 12 months before your wedding. However, if your wedding date is sooner, feel free to make an appointment now. You still have time to find the perfect wedding dress for your big day!
How can I find out the price and/or availability of a product?
If gowns are displayed on our website then they are generally in-store but on a special occasion when a bride has purchased the sample, we may not have that particular dress in-store unless reordered. If you’re after a particular dress that is on our website, we suggest you call and check with us first. Prices can be obtained via a call or email.
What designers do you stock?
We offer three exclusive designers in New Zealand; Rosa Clara, Luna Novias & Adriana Alier. From time-to-time Alter Me will also have their sample gowns on sale.
Dress Selection and Fitting
What types of bridal gowns do you offer?
Our bridal shop features elegant and timeless designs that appeal to a wide range of brides. The styles often blend classic elements with contemporary trends, ensuring that the dresses remain fashionable and relevant. The gowns are designed to flatter different body types, with a range of silhouettes including A-line, mermaid, ballgown, and sheath. This variety allows brides to find a dress that highlights their best features and fits them perfectly.
Do you offer plus-size wedding dresses?
All our designer gowns at our bridal shop can be ordered from size 6 to 32. Our shop samples are between sizes 10 – 16. If you love a dress that is not your size, you may like to explore our bespoke wedding dress service or contact us for a bridal consultation.
How long does it take to order a wedding dress?
If the design is in stock then it will be immediately available to order and can take 1-3 months. If the dress design is not in stock then it will take 4-8 months.
Do you offer custom-made wedding dresses?
Yes we do! Please view our bespoke service here.
What should I bring to my dress appointment?
If you plan on wearing undergarments such as shapewear, we suggest wearing this to your appointment so you can see the dress
How many people can I bring to my appointment?
We suggest bringing 3-4 people to your bridal appointment. This can be family, friends, or anyone you trust and feel safe expressing your opinions.
What size range do you carry?
Our sample bridal gowns are between sizes 10-16. All our gowns can be ordered from size 6 to 32
Alterations and Customizations
Do you offer alteration services?
Yes, we offer bridal alterations in-house. We carry out the basic bridal alterations from taking in and hemming but we also specialise in extensive wedding dress alterations, which includes remodeling, remaking top half or bottom half of a wedding dress, etc. You can view details on our bridal dress alterations here
How long do alterations take?
In the non-peak season alterations can take between 1-4 weeks. If you visit us in the peak bridal season, wedding dress alterations can take up to 6-8 weeks or more, depending if you require fittings. We recommend either emailing or seeing our bridal consultants in-store to show us your dress so we can recommend the timeframe it would take for the alterations.
How much do alterations typically cost?
Bridal dress alterations generally cost between $300-$900. Extensive alterations can cost slightly more. If it’s a simple take in and hemming it can cost under $300
Can I customize my dress with additional features (e.g., sleeves, beading)?
Yes, you can! We have made many custom pieces to excite the bridal gown—for example, custom sleeve variations, bows, additional applique flowers, beading, etc.
Do you provide dress preservation services?
Yes, we do! After you get your dress dry-cleaned with us, we can store your dream wedding dress in a keepsake bridal box so your dress can be preserved for many years without discolouration and staining.
Pricing and Payments
What is the price range of your bridal gowns?
Our designer bridal gowns range from $3000-$7000. We also offer preloved and sample wedding dresses that are not featured on our website due to their fast turnaround. Give us a call to view them in our bridal shop.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, we will work alongside you so you don’t have to pay the entire amount upfront.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept EFTPOS, credit and online banking.
Do you have sales or discounts?
We may hold discounts for a limited time but we will have our yearly sample sale.
Accessories and Other Services
Do you sell bridal accessories (veils, shoes, jewelry)?
We have many different types of veils; from plain, pearl, glitter-pearl, to bow, floral & embroidered veils. Any veil can be custom made to any length and have fabric options. If you have a preferred design, we can custom make it from scratch! View our custom veils here.
Do you offer bridesmaid dresses?
We do not stock bridesmaids dresses but we are looking to do so in the near future. If you’re after a particular style, we can custom make this for you. You can view our bespoke service here.
Do you have mother-of-the-bride dresses?
We do not stock mother-of-the-bride and groom dresses but we are looking to do so in the near future. If you’re after a particular style, we can custom make this for you. You can view our bespoke service here.
Do you offer virtual consultations or appointments?
Yes, we offer our initial bridal consultations virtually. But if you need to try on the bridal gown, it is best to make an appointment and visit us in-store.
